Belarussian player Mikita Badziakouski is one of the most successful tournament players of modern times, with title wins at the 2019 British Poker Open and five Super High Roller titles in 2018, he is a player of great reputation.

Mikita Badziakouski recorded the largest single cash thus far in the British Poker Open at Aspers Casino in London after finishing on top of a field of 18 entrants to win Event #9: £50,000 NLHE for £486,000.

Badziakouski passed the legendary John Juanda for fifteenth place on The Hendon Mob All Time Money List with $25.8 million in career tournament earnings after the win.

'I had a lot of fun,' Badziakouski said to PokerCentral after the win. 'You’re always happy when you’re winning because if you get to the end of the tournament, it means that you like experienced every single stage. I’m happy to win. You need to have the feeling of winning something like this!'

British Poker Open Event #9 Action

Event #9 was originally scheduled to be a two-day event but was instead played out in a single day with the tournament taking slightly more than 11 hours from start to finish.

As has been the case throughout the festival, the tournament attracted some of poker's biggest names. One of them, Sam Soverel, entered the event with a commanding lead on the British Poker Open Championship leaderboard and needed either a cash or to fade Stephen Chidwick from winning the final two events to secure the title. Soverel was one of the early players out of the event but clinched the title after Chidwick was eliminated in ninth place when his tens proved to be no match to David Peters' aces.

PokerCentral and PokerGO founder Cary Katz was unable to appear on the stream broadcasted by his own company after he hit the rail in eighth place; losing a flip with queen-jack suited against Carrel's treys.

Charlie Carrel was the first player eliminated on the live stream. He took a bad beat jamming on the flop with two pair with ace-jack suited only for Peters to call and hit a gutshot straight draw with queen-ten suited. At this point, Peters held more than half the chips in play with six players remaining.

Peters extended his lead further after eliminating Ali Imsirovic in sixth place. Imsirovic jammed a short stack with ace-jack and was unable to get a hold after Peters called with king-nine suited.

Matthias Eibinger was the next to go in fifth place. He jammed a short-stack with king-jack and couldn't get there against Greenwood's ace-nine. Sam Greenwood, however, was unable to parlay this into a cash as he was eliminated in fourth place on the bubble. Greenwood jammed on the flop with a broadway straight draw and two overcards with ace-king and was called by Badziakouski with a flush draw with nine-eight suited. The flush completed on the turn and the bubble broke with the remaining trio each guaranteed £144,000.

Badziakouski entered three-way action with the chip lead, but it wasn't all smooth sailing. Christoph Vogelsang snagged the lead after doubling against Peters with his ace-queen out flipping the deuces held by Peters.

Peters hit the rail the next hand in third place for £144,000 after he jammed with ace-jack suited only to run into the aces held by Vogelsang.

Vogelsang entered heads-up play with nearly a 2:1 chip advantage against Badziakouski. However, Badziouski went on a tear to take the lead before extending it to a 4:1 chip advantage. In the final hand, Badziakouski jammed with ten-nine and won after Vogelsang called with ten-eight suited. Just blanks on the board saw Badziakouski's nine-ten play, and Vogelsang exited in second place. Although Vogelsang was unable to get the win, he did collect a healthy runner-up prize of £270,000 for his efforts.

Soverel Wins the BPO Series Leaderboard

Although there is still one event left to play, it's impossible for any player to catch up to Sam Soverel on the British Poker Open Championship leaderboard with 780 points. Soverel has notched five cashes in nine events for £788,700 in earnings including two wins and three other appearances on the podium.
